We are:
Believers
We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God, risen form the dead and reigning in heaven after having given us his power (through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) and his authority, won at the cross. We believe that it is because of him; our relationship to Him that we can do what we do. In his name, we can do his will on this earth.
Disciples
Means we are his students and followers. believers believe in him. disciples lead active lives in the pursuit of him. they have laid down their lives and own worldly dreams and visions to pursue his. they are radical in their pursuit of his glory. it should be obvious in their character and lifestyle that they are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Kings and Priests before God
We are not beggars. We are selected, appointed, commissioned by God. We are spiritually positioned as kings and priests as royal children of the most high God and as priests who pray as he prayed.
Superheros
If Jesus is in us, if he walked on water and translated and did other superhero type stuff, then we ought to be doing it too. We are people who solve problems. We bring the supernatural solution of Jesus to bare on a situation. We are to be good stewards of what he has given us. We should replace the comic book superheros for kids. He's given us the ability to make it reality for them. (Spandex optional).
Warriors in an Army
When I see most Christians I don't see warriors. I see brokenness and fear. I see people who do not know who they are or who they belong to. I do not see boldness in the face of enemies. I do not see courage or honor. I do not see people who would lay down their lives for another or for what they believe. Too many Christians are wrapped up in low living and fear. We are warriors. We do not run from battle. We do not flinch at the sign of adversity. We are empowered by God to bring love and freedom and truth - to set captives free, to defend borders, to heal the sick, to bring light into dark places. We have a job to do and a God to instruct us and a HS to protect us. We have people to rescue and comrades to support.
Lovers of God
It is His love for us that drives us. It is His love in us that equips us. It is His love that guides us and strengthens us. We love God. It is in our intimacy with Him, our closeness to Him that we find strength and wisdom. Without love we are nothing but a clanging gong.
Servants
We are told to owe no man anything but love. We are told to do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
What we are not
We are not a substitute for a living, breathing personal relationship with God
We can be used as a stop-gap or as an encouragement or inspiration but we are not a replacement for somone developing their own personal, supernatural walk with the Lord. What is in us is in you too. We have paid the price to walk in the power we walk in to be a blessing to others. You must too. We are here to demonstrate that a supernatural life is possible so that you will pursue it for yourselves. We do not like the 'juke box' analogy where you press a button and what you want comes out. We are not jukeboxes. Jesus is not a performing monkey, neither are we. As God instructs we respond to genuine requests from people who desire God or need help. It is then up to you to take the example God has given you and walk in it and share it with others. We are not in the business of sustaining babies. We are in the business of encouraging soldiers.
As He is so are we in this world 1 John 4:10
